Philosophy

Be More believes that people are the key to solving the world's many problems. That's why we support small projects that offer direct help. We help not just financially, but especially through our volunteers who come from all over the world. Volunteers work together with the local population on a project and in doing so they create a bond: a bond of understanding, involvement and respect.
This is our philosophy:

Inspire
First of all, we try to inspire you to make a difference as a volunteer and to make the decision to contribute your time and energy to a development project. As a charity that is actively involved in the projects we support, we hope to get you excited and prepared about your project so that you will be innovative, creative and determined to find a way to make a lasting difference to both yourself and the project. However, we also believe that it is not something you should do without support from those around you.
Involve
That's why we offer you a range of ways in which to involve your friends and family in your experience. By telling them what you are about to do, where you will be going and by asking them to support you, you will create a sense of involvement amongst those around you. This feeling of connection to your experience is vital to raising awareness of issues such as HIV/AIDS and the orphan crises in Africa. We ask you to involve the people around you as much as possible. Before, during and after your trip they should feel engaged in what you are doing. Before you leave for your volunteer trip you can tell them what you are going to do. Tell them what project you will be working on, why you have decided to go abroad as a volunteer and explain the difference that you hope to make. Tell them any specific goals you have and how they can help you achieve those goals, whether by donating funds, helping you plan, giving you a useful contact etc. We hope you are able to make the people around you enthusiastic and involved. We hope they become so enthusiastic and involved that they also want to learn more.
Volunteer
To keep people involved in your volunteer experience, it is important to keep those who supported you informed of what you are doing. Therefore, we provide you with a weblog which you can update with stories and pictures before, during and after your trip. All you have to do is give out your weblog address and add people to your mailing list so they receive an email every time you write a new post. The weblog also contains links to information about your project and the latest Be More news. It is a great way to inform your friends and family of what you are experiencing while volunteering and of how you are making a difference with money that they have donated. We also regularly publish news items and about our projects on the Be More Community forum so anyone can stay up to date with events at the projects.
Spread
Once you're back home we hope that the project will have made such an impression on you that you decide to spread the word about your experience. This can be as simple as telling your friends and family your stories and becoming a mentor to a new volunteer. It can also be organizing an awareness and fundraising event or continuing to support and stay involved in the lives of the people you met while volunteering. We hope that your experience inspires you to make a lasting difference and upon your return home we will offer you different ways that you can stay involved.
