Swimming lessons for Agape kids

30 degrees Celsius, bright and sunny... What could be more fun than taking a dive in the pool? Because most of the children at Agape have never been taught how to swim, the volunteers decided a couple of weeks ago to start swimming lessons. And with success!

opent in een nieuw venster Geartsje and Dennis wrote on their weblog: "Since none of the children now how to swim (well), and since we have quite a large pool in the backyard of the volunteer house, we have started swimming lessons on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. We have only done 2 lessons so far, but I must admit that we can see quite a lot of progression in some of the kids. One of the kids (11) for example was already diving stuff up with Dennis, after his first lesson, while in the morning he wasn't able to do more than just float around a bit.

We have of course no experience in giving swimming lessons and we don't think we can actually teach all the kids how to swim well, but if we see this progression even in some of the kids, we're more than happy!"
