Agape Program Details
Everything you need to know about the program at Agape.
Practical
- Program duration: 4, 8, 12 or 16 weeks. Staying longer is also possible, just ask us.
- Start dates: See
Availability. - Costs: See explanation of costs.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. You are free to do what you want the rest of the time; on weekends you are allowed to go to Agape as well.
Included
The following is included in the program:
- Accommodation: You stay at the volunteer house, with the other volunteers. This house is about a 10 minute drive from Agape, so you can relax in the evenings and have some personal time.
- Food: Food costs are included in the program. Each week volunteers go grocery shopping together and you are able to decide as a group how to spend your food budget. Luxury articles are of course at your own expense.
- Transport: Transportation between the volunteer house and the project is included. You can also use this transportation to arrange things for Agape, to do grocery shopping, to use the Internet, etc. You will of course be picked up from the airport and dropped off after your volunteer program.
- Communication: You will have the chance to use the Internet on a weekly basis. We also recommend that you take your mobile; a prepaid sim card is very cheap in South Africa. You can also purchase second hand mobile phones in South Africa if necessary. You can use a long distance phone card to make calls from the phone at the volunteer house. You can also use the house phone to receive calls from family and friends.
- Program coordinator: At Agape, there is a program coordinator present at the project. This coordinator will welcome you to the project, make sure you feel at home, let you know what you can do at the project and is your contact for all questions or problems.
- Preparation: Before you leave, should you need us, we are here to help you book your ticket, get insurance, prepare for your trip and help with any other questions or problems you might encounter.
- Certificate: To show that you have voluntarily worked for a development project, Be More will send you a certificate once you return home.
- Project donation: Because Be More thinks it's very important to also support the project financially, a small part of your volunteer fee will go directly to the project. You are welcome to raise even more for your project if you want!
For more details on how your volunteer fee is spent, see Program costs.
