Volunteers at Agape

opent in een nieuw venster Volunteers are very important for Agape. They play an essential role in the daily life at Agape and they are important in the lives of the children. When a fire destroyed the main building last year, volunteers proved what an incredible difference they can make during difficult times.

Before the volunteers came to Agape, many of the children were bullied at school. Mostly because their home life was so different to the other children's, as they had no parents to go home to and no new clothes to wear. The children felt unable to defend themselves. However, after a few months of support from volunteers, the children learned to be proud and independent. They learned English, new games and most importantly, they learned to respect themselves.

Now the children of Agape are no longer bullied. The boys are dedicated to their soccer team and a few of the girls are class representatives. They are self-confident and have learned to be leaders and role models to other children.
