Dream Centre Program Details
Everything you need to know about the program at The Dream Centre.
Practical
- Duration: 4, 8, 12 or 16 weeks. Longer is of course possible; please contact us about this.
- Leaving dates & availability: See
Availability. - Costs: See explanation on page Costs.
- Working times: Flexible and depends on you, but generally Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm.
Included
Included in the program costs are:
- Accommodation: You’ll stay in one of the wings of the hospital, where there are no patients. All facilities to relax are available.
- Food: Together with the other volunteers you take care of your own food needs. Costs for this are included in the program. You go grocery shopping together every week. Luxury articles are at your own expense.
- Transport: Because accommodation is in the Dream Centre itself, no transport is needed. Pinetown is a middle-sized city and shops, bars and internet are all within walking distance. Transport for emergencies is available. In addition to that, you can make trips to all kinds of sites in the area. Airport pick-up and drop-off are included.
- Communication: There's time to use the Internet on a weekly basis. We also recommend that you take your mobile; a prepaid sim card is very cheap in South Africa. At the volunteer accommodation, there is a land line on which you can receive calls or make calls using a phone card.
- Program coordinator: The Dream Centre has its own program coordinator. This coordinator welcomes you to the project, makes sure you feel at home, makes sure you know what to do and is the person to go to with any questions or problems you may have.
- Help in preparing: Before you leave, we're able to help you book your ticket, get insurance, prepare for your trip and help with any other questions or problems you might encounter.
- Certificate: To show that you have voluntarily worked for a development project, Be More will send you a certificate once you return home.
- Project donation: Because Be More thinks it's very important to also support the project financially, a small part of your volunteer fee will go directly to the project.
For more details on how your volunteer fee is spent, see Program costs.
