Volunteers at I Care
Volunteers will be asked to help out at either the I Care school or in one of the I Care homes.
At school you will support the teacher and help out with the children. Because they come from difficult backgrounds and have lived on the streets, most of the boys are very far behind in their education and may have learning difficulties and behavioral problems. This is why they all participate in a specialized curriculum in which they get lots of individual attention. The children are all very eager to learn and find it a true privilege to be able to go to school.
Volunteers also play a big role at the I Care foster homes. Many of the boys have missed out on vital parts of their childhood. It is essential for them to receive love and attention from adults. The presence of volunteers helps them to develop confidence, trust and social skills. The children are also very willing to learn and love participating in sports and games. It’s simply impossible not to bond with them! Supporting the I Care foster parents by helping out with the boys' care, helping to increase the boys' confidence and trust in their foster parents, and sharing skills and experience is an important aspect of a volunteers role.N.B. The I Care boys come from very difficult backgrounds. They are extremely vulnerable which is why we have set a minimum stay of 3 months.
